First of all, I’m not getting old (although the grey hair is a lot more noticeable) and this isn’t a complaint – I actually feel a lot healthier than I did during my twenties now due to free time and more exercise – no, this is a lament that I’ve finally admitted automotive responsibility and bought a four-door car.
Yes, after a few weeks of pondering I finally put the cash down for a Fabia this weekend – the test drive convinced me that it was the right thing to do (I’d tested one about eight years ago but it didn’t feel right at the time) and that it will be far more useful for the type of driving I regularly do than another Fiesta – besides as previously commented there’s not enough room to swing a cat in the new model.
But four doors have their advantages. The offer was too good to resist (you can get some blinding deals at the moment, even without taking the scrapage scheme into account) and I’ll actually save money in the long run as the deal includes servicing and the insurance is cheaper despite it being a larger engine car (something I’ve not got my head around). More importantly I’ll have more space for carting bikes / larp gear around the country which is a big bonus.
Just waiting to see when it will arrive in the country but hopefully it will be before the end of the month.
